  2. In my opinion, St. Jude is a great organization. It helps children who are diagnosed with cancer to receive special care and treatment, even if the family is unable to pay for expenses. The way that St. Jude gets their money for treatments and staff is through donations. This is why it is so important for people to donate to this gracious organization. Every day cancer takes the lives of people and many of them being children. Children are the future of our country and it is our job to do whatever we can to protect that.

  3. To start off with, this organization is doing very well in their philanthropic strides; providing care without concerns to the 'family's ability to pay'and even increasing the survival rate of acute lymphoblastic leukemia from 4 percent in 1962 to 94 percent by 2009.Overall, the progress based solely on donations by organizations and private donation is quite substantial. On a purely tangential note, I find it quite disheartening that an organization had to be created to provide all of these benefits to the community because the community as a whole lacked not the funds or means, but rather the desire to do so. Hopefully this and other organizations will further push the 'desire' to help others in need, and whether it be done by 'opening the eyes' of big businesses or pressing them into contributing doesn't make a difference in the long run; only that something be done.

  4. St. Jude’s Research Hospital is a very special organization. It operates solely on donations from families that care about helping sick children. It is unbelievable the number of patients who cannot afford treatment from normal hospitals so they turn to St. Jude’s. Gracious doctors and staff are paid from donations so that families don't have the burden of paying for special care. To me, this organization is so important because of the number of lives it saves each day in the name of charity. With the so many minorities that are unable to pay for such care, it is a blessing that St. Jude’s hospital was opened to support so many families.

  5. An organization such as St. Judes is something that is necessary to our society. Without the greatfull dontations that power the organization, there would be little to no hope for some of the children that come through the organization. What makes this important is the fact that kids who have not been able to significantly impact our society are getting extra chances at becoming great people. With this organizations, parents no longer have to take hearing that their child has been diagnossed with a serious deisease such as leukemia or cancer with as much fear as compared to when organizations like St. Jude hadn't been running. Because donations are so key in keeping this organization going, it is vital that the awareness become more publicized so more children can be given another chance.

  6. St. Jude's Research Hospital is a blessed place providing the care and treatment to families that cannot afford regular hospital treatment. People of the community must continue to donate to the hospital so that unwealthy families won't have to worry about their child's health and financial problems all at once. With those problems out of mind, the poor families can have a few less things to worry about so that they can save their money and be able to donate to the hospital later on in life.

  7. I believe that St. Jude's Research Hospital is an incredible establishment. Because of their refusal to turn patients away, it has become very well known for helping many children as well as their families. Running solely on donations is a risky thing to do, but it has paid off for St. Jude's. It is extremely important for people to donate and help them, because so many families rely on this hospital to keep their children alive.

  8. St. Jude's Research Hospital is one the most innovative and revolutionary hospitals in America. Some of the most gifted doctors and researchers give their service at St. Judes. Patients all over the nation with some of the toughest cases come there for treatment not only because they will receive the best care but St. Judes treats any patient no matter what the financial situation for the family. Health care is an expensive process in today's world and many families struggle to get the care they need because they are unable to afford it. A patient with cancer can struggle with the disease for years, and not only is it a challenge to survive but families can barely afford the years of treatment they have to pay for. St. Judes relies on donations and charity efforts and is willing to help families so they won't have to go through that financial struggle. Not only does St. Jude's aid a boost financially, but it helps boost the moral of the patient in their effort to survive over the disease.

  9. In the last year, my life has been greatly impacted by cancer. You don't really know how devastating cancer can be until your life has been touched by this disease. Last fall, Jack Barker was diagnosed with Leukemia, and had to start the fight of his life. But with the aid of the doctors of St. Jude's Jack has gone into remission. What makes St. Jude's incredible is that they wont turn a patient away due to money problems or other obstacles. The thing about cancer is you never really recover, you go into remission, which means the cancer can come back and this does happen to some patients. This is why we need to focus more on finding a cure and donating money towards cancer research. If we start ignoring cancer research, St. Jude's will not be able to keep their policy of not turning a child away. But with donations, St. Jude's can keep their policy and maybe even one day find a cure.

  10. Ive heard of St. Jude before but never really knew to what extend they helped people. They've made many impacts to the world especially to the research in cancer and other deadly diseases that effect children. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has been named the nation's top children's cancer hospital in the 2010-11 best children's hospital rankings published in U.S. News. St. Jude received the best overall score which proves the point that St. Jude Hospital is doing everything they can to not only help cancer patients but also to make a difference. They do not turn away families due to inability to pay. They really care about children and their health and try to change the lives of many. This hospital is a home to many and the nurses and care takers become close to their patients that they feel comfortable. Its an inspiring hospital that have changed lives and many donate to this hospital because they understand that St. Jude is not just a hospital but a home.

  11. What is so special about St. Jude's is the unique combination of services they offer. They don't just provide financial assistant to needy families, or health care to the catastrophically ill, or a place for cutting edge research and medical breakthroughs, they offer a place for all of these and more, something that cannot be found anywhere else. Through donations the Hospital receives, many milestones in cancer research have been conquered. Just recently, for example, an experimental treatment for medulloblastomas, which are "the most common malignant brain tumors in children," has been proving effective. The treatment is focused on blocking the Hedgehog passage to the tumor in the brain. The results of the 13 patients, ranging from 4 to 21 years of age, have helped to pave the way for Phase 2 of the study, which is scheduled for later this year. Stories like these are the motivation for continuing research in helping these children find their cure.

  12. Even with the new reforms, medical care is expensive, especially to treat the serious diseases this children have. St.Jude's has an awesome idea, no child should go without care and die just because their parents cannot afford the treatments or because their insurance won't cover it. It's also great that the foundation sponsers so much research concerning these deadly diseases that effect so many people. St. Jude's, through their care and research, is making the world a better place, a place where kids can get the treatment they need and one rid of deadly diseases.

  13. We all know that children are the future of our world and country. So then isn't it important we give them the most importance? St. Jude's is a special organization that helps treat deadly diseases that children have. St. Jude's knows how important every life is and that way they have a dedicated staff and help every child even if the child's parents can not pay for the cost. For example from 1962 till 2009, the survival rate of acute lymphoblastic leukemia from 4 percent in 1962 to 94 percent. The entire organization is based on private and organizational funding. I like this because it is people working together for a good cause. Not everyone has the luxury to afford health insurance and St. Jude's saves so many lives that it is truly a great organization.

  14. For many years I have seen the commercials for St. Jude’s on television and even though the stories they told touched my heart, I thought it was just like any other hospital in the world. I never realized how this hospital alone has saved millions of children’s lives. Not only does this hospital treat any and every patient disregarding the ability to pay but they use all donations to research and develop cures for cancer. This hospital is filled with the most gifted and talented of doctors and researchers who solely want to help these patients fight the battle of cancer. Although this hospital receives the hardest cases in the country, no case is too much for St. Jude’s. In order to keep this amazing organization successful it is very important to donate so doctors and researchers can continue saving the lives of these children.

  15. Medical bills can very easily get to be thousands of dollars. The fact that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital won't turn anyone away because of this is astounding. When most children become terminally ill, it is unexpected for them and their parents. St. Jude's does everything they can to give these children a good, long life. St. Jude's is constantly searching for new ways to cure different diseases, thus saving lives and making the world a better place. A hospital is a scary place for anyone who goes there, especially children. There is not any other children's hospital like St. Jude's; the cancer treatment and research there is the best in the United States. The employees of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are part of an amazing organization which is able to save the world one child at a time.

  16. I never knew that one organization could change so many lives. St. Jude's hospital fosters a collaborative sense of hope for their patients through their doctors, nurses, and millions of dollars in donations each year. Their goal is not to be widely known throughout the United States as "just another organization ", but a group that genuinely cares for each child as if they were their own child. St. Jude's doesn't just collect money through paper envelopes, but they aggregate their donations from all parts of the country through the Chilie's Give A Pepper fundraiser, and the Memphis Marathon Weekend event. This organization strives to assist those who can't bring the money to the table when their child is unfortunately diagnosed with cancer, and to research endless possibilities for cures to the seemingly ubiquitous disease called caner. I know that if my child was ever in the need of professional care and monitoring, I would contact St. Jude's immediately.

  17. St. Jude’s Research Hospital is a very special organization. All medically eligible patients who are accepted for treatment at St. Jude are treated without regard to the family's ability to pay. St. Jude is the only pediatric research center in the United States where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Judes relies on donations and charity efforts and is willing to help families so they won't have to go through that financial struggle, also St. Jude has an International Outreach Program to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic illnesses worldwide through the transfer of knowledge, technology and organizational skills.

  18. Personally, I think that St. Jude’s children hospital is a superb organization because of what they do and how they do it, it’s simply amazing. I’ve seen commercials for St. Jude’s on the T.V, people have held fundraisers for St. Jude’s, and McDonalds used to have some association with them awhile back. The motto and how St. Jude’s was created touched me, "no child should die in the dawn of life." The statement is really bold and how they’ve been diligent and effective is great! I can’t believe that they rely off of donations, as risky as it sounds; it seems to have paid off. Another aspect that is so great is that not only are the children being treated of their illness, they are being cared for like no other by great accommodations consisting of experienced doctors, helpful nurses and an overall awesome environment for the patient. St. Jude’s Children’s research hospital has split donations, 47% going to taking care of the patients and 41% towards research. The organization is becoming more popular and deserves to be touted for all the great altruistic work being put in.

  19. St.jude's children hospital is a type of organization that they do so much more than they can offer. When a situation of a parents inability to pay the medical bills or cannot afford the medical insurance presents its self, they don't just say "come back when you have the money", but they take that into consideration and focus on the matter at hand at give necessary medical attention to your child. They way they run their organization makes all other top organizations in America help them by donation or financially and this helps build a rock solid foundation for them.
The survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, which is the most common type of childhood cancer has increased from 4 percent in 1962 to 94 percent today. St.Jude has treated children from across the United States and from more than 70 countries. Doctors across the world contact St.Jude on their toughest cases and they have an International Outreach program to improve the survival rates of children with catastrophic illnesses world wide through the transfer of knowledge, technology and organization skills.

  20. I believe that St. Jude's children's hospital is one of the best things to ever be made. A child should never have to go without medical treatment because their parents cannot afford medical insurance or the bill. A lot of hospitals nowadays turn children away and that is just wrong because it is not the child's fault for not being able to pay the bill and i don't believe they should be punished for being born into a bad economic situation especially with the way the economy is now. The fact that this hospital has made as many contributions to children's health with only money off of donations shocks me and i believe that there should be more hospitals installed in the U.S. that operate like St. Jude's.

  21. in my opinion St. Jude is an amazing place for children with cancer. they accept everyone even if you cant pay they try and help you in any way possible. St. Jude has made a difference in millions of families lives by finding ways to make their children better that way their families don't have to go through the pain of losing a loved one at a young age. St. Jude is always updating its technology that they have the best tools so they can try and find a cure for all children. they feel no child should be left behind just because of their families inability to pay they want no family to have to suffer because they are not able pay the bills. this program show the bit of greatness the america has left because not everyone is nice anymore but St. Jude will always be there no matter how far into the future they will always find ways to help families in need

  22. We all know that not every hospital could run like this, but what if we could get every hospital in the country to do this in the years to come? With all the rage of health care and other financial medical problems, St. Jude's is doing what we forget in the midst of politics; people are people, and they all need care. As stated, it would be impossible to get every major hospital to run like this in the present day, but is it crazy to dream about it hundreds of years from now? There will be new and improved treatments for everything sometime in the future, so we want everyone to be able to access that. We have million and billionaires in America, and why are they not donating more? St. Jude's, I believe, is the start of a new American way of medical care.

  23. Before reading this blog, I had heard about St. Jude’s but was not really aware of exactly what they did. When I first discovered that St. Jude Children’s Hospital admits all patients regardless of their financial situation I was amazed. It really opened my eyes to how many people actually are struggling to pay for their child’s medical bill. It just never occurred to me that there are families all over the country who simply have no way to pay the medical bills. Upon further research, I discovered that St. Jude’s primary focus is pediatric cancer. In fact they, are even widely considered the number one children’s cancer hospital in the U.S.. This serves to prove that not only are they dedicated to improving the world, but they are also good at what they do. Most of the time, organizations only focus on either making a difference or being the best at what they do, so it is extremely refreshing to see an organization that is effectively doing both.

  24. Personally, I think that St. Jude Hospital is an amazing organization that helps children that have cancer, or other types of sicknesses. They have many fund raiser and other types of activities that help raise money for the children that do not have enough money to pay for the treatment that they deserve. Just because someone does not have the money to pay for treatment, they should have to die, or not get any treatment at all; they should get another opportunity, so for other people to help these children with their treatment is an amazing thing.
