Coppell Farmer's Market

Find out what is so great about the Coppell Farmer's Market!  Prepare a meal for your family or friends that you purchased from farmers market. You must cook a dish that includes vegetables that you select, wash, and cut yourself!  You can add spices, oils, and any other healthy item.  What did you make and what makes it healthy? Will you shop at farmers market again?  Do you think local shopping is beneficial to our community?

  1. My mother and I went Coppell Farmer's Market last weekend. We bought fresh beef and vegetables to make barbecue. We also purchased other ingredients such as vegetable oil, salt, honey, and lime. Barbecue seems very hard to cook but it’s much easier than what it seems like. First, clean the beef before you start cook it. After that, put the cleaned beef and all of the ingredients together in one single container. Then age them about 3 hour in refrigerator. Later, place them in oven and bake it for 20 minutes. Soon you will have easy and tasty barbecue for a meal for your day. Biologists found that barbecue sauces are packed with healthy ingredients which can boost the body's immune system. These are chemical compounds which fight diseases associated with old age such as cancer, heart problems, strokes, Alzheimer's, arthritis and cataracts. My family enjoyed the barbecue and we are planning to go to Coppell Farmer’s Market soon.

  2. My mom, dad, sister, little brother and i went to the farmers market this past saturday to grocery shop. We have never been to the Coppell Farmers Market before however after i told them about this project they were very open to the idea of preparing a healthier meal. We purchased several fruits along with beef and whole grain pasta. Me and my mom made beef stroganoff for dinner and fruit salad for a side. The meal was no doubt healthier for us but the taste will need some getting used to! This experience was very fun and useful. Now we know that healthier products are easily available to us. My family will definitely be stopping by the Coppell Farmers Market more often after this project!

  3. Last week, my Mom and I stopped by the farmer's market to pick up food. We tried buying things we've never eaten before such as eggplant and turnips and look up recipes that included them and try to make our own little twists on them. We first tried making an eggplant and turnip sandwich, which while probably healthy tasted terrible, then we tried a Eggplant salad with turnips thrown in and turned out much better. It was a good experience. We've been to Farmers markets before but had no idea one was nearby us. I'm sure we will make more trips to here in the future.

  4. On Saturday, me and my mom went to the Farmer’s Market and bought eggs, turkey and yellow green and red peppers. We decided to spice up our breakfast in the morning with a tasty yet also healthy omelet. She had me cut all of the peppers and turkey up to put inside the omelet, and once finished I must say it was delicious. It was good to know that I was eating fresh vegetables and ingredients from the Farmer’s Market instead of other things that usually are included. I will definitely be making more trips down to the Market because the turnout was a success.
