Go Play!

Get out of the house.  Put down your phone.  Do something different for just three days.  Does it make a difference?  Does it change the way you feel?  Take at least thirty minutes out of your day for a total of three days and go play outside.  Bring your friends or family.

  1. Since I was stuck at home for the spring break, I decided to take the time to take 1 hour walks to the park and back every morning. I had a buddy to walk with me, so the entire way there and back wasn’t so unbearable. No matter how late I woke up each day (ranging from 8 AM to 11 AM) after washing up and eating breakfast, I went straight to the park and met up with my friend Ami. As the three days passed by, we began to enjoy the cool breeze and the beautiful scenery that we’ve been missing while being indoors. We also noticed that after each 1 hour walk, we were more satisfied with ourselves for taking the time to actually do something healthy instead of staring at the blinding computer screen for 5 hours. Although this was only a 3-day-challenge, those three days have made me feel very proud of myself; and I don’t think I would want to give that up. If I exercise every morning in the future (whether I am with a companion or by myself), I know that I will become both a happier and a healthier person. Perhaps with a stronger and improved body, I’ll even advance academically. :)

  2. For this Go Play assignment I went outside and did something I rarely do; play football with five different friends for 3 consecutive days over spring break. Each day we played for 45 minutes and loved every second of it. I never realized how fun and exciting playing football with just a couple of friends could be. Throwing a football takes coordination, strength, and the ability skills. Also when it comes to catching the football you need to have a quick reaction time and be able to multi-task. For example you need to be able to catch the ball and then run with it. With this in mind, football was a great way to get outside and exercise. At first I was thinking about how this little activity would not be very beneficial, but when I got out there and started competing, my mindset totally changed. I mean playing football is actually an exhilarating sport that gets you in good shape. After this entire experience, I came to the conclusion that this should most definitely be a daily habit. Football basically kills two birds with one stone if you know what I mean. It gives you exercise, the most important part, and it also helps you increase your reaction time and hand-eye coordination. It made me feel like I had a lot more energy throughout the rest of my day after playing for 45 minutes. It seems like it would make you tired, but it really didn’t. I felt great. I believe this activity does make a difference in my everyday life because it allows me to enhance on my skills and gives me something fun to do with my friends. This is why my friends and I really enjoyed going outside and trying something different.

  3. For my active exercise, I played sand volleyball. On Friday, March 18, after beating Keller Fossil Ridge in baseball, the junior baseball players challenged the seniors to a friendly sand volleyball match. We played at Irving Bible Church (IBC) which has lights, and Race Track drinks were on the line. Of course the seniors won with ease and of course the juniors refused to follow through with the bet. The following afternoon, after hitting practice, the baseball team enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Deli and played some more sand volleyball at Andy Brown. The sun was a factor this time and the match got heated, but the pool afterwards cooled everyone off. The following afternoon, the baseball team met up at Andy Brown and played again for the third day in a row. Fatigue set in however, and the usually competitive match didn’t last too long. I loved playing sand volleyball with my teammates. I usually get to spend time with them only six days a week, so this active exercise was a nice mix up. The annual CHS Memorial Day sand volleyball tournament is just around the corner and my team got third place last year, but after these last three days, first place seems within grasp. Sand volleyball should be a daily habit because it’s a fun way to spend time with your friends and get outside. From diving to digging to dodging, sand volleyball is an exercise that gets the heart pumping and adrenaline flowing. Also, it’s an easy way to get a nice bronze tan.

One morning over spring break my parents woke me up to see if I wanted to go walk around Andy Brown Park with them. I reluctantly joined along, but ended up loving it. We were only planned to go around one small area, but instead we went on the whole trail which ended up taking two hours. It did take a while, but I loved it. It was so pretty and walking in the sun made me feel alert and happy. When I got home I realized that this could be the start of my three days of activeness. The next day I walked around the neighborhood with my friend for a while and on the third day I went bike riding with my dad. Overall, not only did I feel healthier, but I felt happier and more alive too. I wanted to spend my time doing something productive rather than just watching tv or stumbling on the computer. Switching up my activities actually made me enjoy life more than I usually do, which makes me want to continue this routine daily.

  5. Over the spring break I decided to do this 3-day-challenge by taking a walk for an hour. Over the breaks I tend to get very lazy. I will wake up, eat, sit in front of the computer for hours, eat again, and then go to sleep. In order to break this unhealthy habit, I decided to go on a walk for 3 consecutive days with my friend Jiyun. We would meet up at Andrew Brown Park and walk for an hour everyday. At first I felt lazy and didn’t want to walk for so long, but it turned out to be fun. We would talk the whole time so the hour went by very quickly, and we both enjoyed the fresh air and the scenery. I felt very accomplished after the 3 day challenge since I’m sure that I wouldn’t have gotten that much exercise without it. This challenge made me realize that it isn’t so difficult to get healthy and exercise daily. I enjoyed doing this 3-day-challenge. I got exercise, got healthier, and got to spend time with my friend.

  6. For this Go Play! assignment, I went out in my backyard and jumped on my trampoline for at least 30 minutes for 3 consecutive days. I thought it was a very fun idea and enjoyed my time away from my hectic schedule. Doing this assignment brought me back to the days of when I was a little kid and would go play outside everyday after school. I truely believe this break from the many distractions in life helped me get focused and got my blood pumping. If more people would take time out of their day and get out and move around a little, I believe people's stress levels would lessen and everyone would be in happier moods. I enjoyed this three day challenge and might have to keep it up!

  7. For three days I spent time outside doing various activities. The first day I rode my bike around Andy Brown Park. I live really close, so it's really easy to hop on my bike and go for a ride in the afternoon, not to mention that it's perfect bike weather. The second day, I took my dog for a walk. It was nice to spend time in the beautiful weather just casually walking. The third day I went on a walk with my mom for a couple miles. I love being outside and this time of year is perfect for spending time outdoors. I would really like to make spending time outside part of my daily routine, it is fun, feels nice to be around nature and it is relaxing.

  8. For this assignment I decided to go out with my little relatives The week of Spring Break. On the first day we played basketball at the Y, despite not playing it in over 3 years I did pretty well. Then on the 2nd day of the challenge I got out my old bike and we went around the city of coppell, stopping by at friends houses asking them to join us. The 3rd day was going back to Wilson elementary's playground, even if I was far too large to use anything other than the swings. I do tend to exercise on my own, but doing it with little ones can help to make it more enjoyable and less monotnous

  9. For this go play activity I decided that for at least three days I would get up in the mornings and jog for about thirty minutes and later in the day I would also jump on the trampoline. I like to run but sometimes it’s hard to fit into my schedule which Is why I don’t do it on a normal basis. It was hard to get up on the mornings but once I got outside and stated running it was easy. Starting my day with exercise was good because it makes me feel more energized and awake throughout the day. I have a better feeling about myself and can accomplish tasks easier with the more energy. It feels good after working out and helps me to sleep better at night. I will try and continue this everyday because even though it was only a short three days I can tell a difference in the way that I feel and I know that I will be both happier and healthier.

  11. My regular exercise is taking a walk to the nearest grocery store to my house and sometimes when I walk back from school. For this challenge, on the first day I decided to ride my bike to Kroger, which is approximately one and a half mile and back to my house. I did not really feel tired as usually when I walk there but it was great because I got to exercise my leg muscles. The next day I decided to call my friends and we went to play a full soccer game at a local park. I chose to play soccer because it is a combination of different exercises together in one sport like running back and forth to either sides of the goal post, kicking the ball and also throwing the ball when necessary. On my third day, i decided to walk to school and back home. This was my first time doing this. It is a four mile trip, two mile to school and two miles back. That morning, i was half awake and i felt very tired. I drank lots of water before i left. When i got to school, i realized that i dont feel sleepy anymore and i was more alert. On my way back from school, it did not even feel like i walked two miles at all because i was calm and the weather was cool. I really had fun doing this because i realized that the more i do various exercises, the better i feel and i might just keep doing if i find a right time.

  12. For this assignment I decided to do things I do not normally do on a daily basis. On the first day I played 3 on 3 basketball with a group of guys at the gym. After playing a real game of basketball after such a long time and not just shooting hoops, I learning that you really do get a good exercise from playing a game of basketball. On the second day, I decided to try something different and swim laps. After swimming for a good 30 to 40 minutes, I was tired and hungry. I never thought that swimming would be a productive exercise but it really did work my whole body by the time I was done. Although swimming was fun, on the third day I decided to run on the treadmill after such a long time. After running for hour, I could definitely feel the burn in my legs and lower body, but then again you can never go wrong with a good cardio workout. After exercising these past three days I've realized that by taking 30 minutes to an hour out of my day to exercise, I feel a lot better than not exercising at all on a daily basis.

  13. For three days last week I took time each afternoon to enjoy the warm weather and go running with my dog. I am usually the kind of person to just go to the gym for a few hours when convenient and half heartily work out. Now that my dog is older and behaves better I have grown to enjoy his company on walks and learned he is a great running partner. I realized how much more I enjoy my work out when I am outside and I am slightly more entertained by everything around me. Running a mile and a half for the three days helped me clear my head, relive my growing stress and gave me something to look forward to. I would recommend getting out in the lovely Texas weather and even just walking to take time to enjoy life instead of spending time on Facebook or watching television.

  14. For three days in a row me and my friends picked up a new sport that none of us regularly play for the school and decided to kick the soccer ball around. On Sunday the 20th, me and about 15 friends went up to Buddy Echols Fields and set the goals up. With then played an 8 on 8 game that was set up on our mini field. We had a lot of fun and got some good exercise while doing it. It was a good change and a new experience. Then on Monday one of my friends asked me to play in his indoor soccer game. I did and even though i played goalie, I still got a feel for the game. We ended up winning 8 to 2. Everyone got a good workout. Then on the 3rd day which was Tuesday me and just a few of my friends headed up to the Andy Brown fields and just casually kicked the ball around. We played a game similar to P-I-G in basketball. Through this I found an entire new interest in soccer I never knew existed This should be a daily habit for everyone because you get the best of both worlds with having fun and still keeping in shape. Even if the sport isn't soccer, I recommend for everyone to go out and play some pickup sport.

  15. I hate walking. I know since I play soccer that is pretty weird, but I just don't enjoy standing for long periods of time or walking. However over spring break I was in London, England and if I wanted to get from point A to point B, that is exactly what I had to do. My brother and I would purchase Day Passes everyday and begin our day going all about our hometown. A day pass allowed us to travel on any double decker bus and subway, but you had to walk a good distance to get to either of them and also had to constantly switch because one bus or subway doesn't necessarily get you to your specific destination. The walks actually turned out to be really fun. Usually I get around in my car with the music blasting, but since my brother and I had to walk a lot of the time, we had really nice conversations and noticed different buildings and people that we would not normally pay attention to if we were driving. Now that I am back in Coppell doesn't mean I still have to drive everywhere. I can make it a daily habit to walk to my friend's house who are in close proximity or even if they're a little far for a walk, I can take my bike!

  16. For the three day challenge, I decided to go play tennis everyday for 45 minutes. I would also go to the gym to run and do various exercises. I really could tell a difference after each of my workouts. Sometimes at the start of my workout I would feel tired and too lazy and not want to work out. During my workout I felt my energy increase and my heart pumping. When I finished playing tennis and working out, I felt so refreshed and awake. I wasn't tired anymore and I wanted to keep working out. On the days before where I would just sit around doing nothing, I would just feel lazy and so tired. Working out and getting outdoors feels really nice because it energizes your body and makes you feel more alert and awake. If you're sitting around at home and you don't know what to do, just go outside and play a sport, go for a jog, walk your dog, just be active! It'll make your feel really great! (:

  17. On the first Sunday of the Spring Break, I went with several friends on a road trip to Austin and during the long drive, I sat next to my friend Josh who at one point asked if I had a working bike because he had just fixed his up and wanted to ride around with someone when we got back. I thought how this would be a perfect opportunity to try out something new and get my knowledge grade done. We got back the next evening and Josh help put air in the tires of my old bike and we rode around my neighborhood for about 45 minutes. It felt great o just ride around in the spring breeze while conversing and get my cardio workout for the day. Usually I go jogging but to spend time with a friend and workout is something I don't normally do so it was good for both of us. Throughout the rest of the break, we met up at some point in the day and cycled for about an hour a day usually traveling further around as the days of doing it numbered. We now make it an after-school routine.

  18. My three day challenge was completed doing three various activities in which I rarely do. Over this Spring Break, my friends and I got really bored playing Fifa on our xbox 360 and decided to start a game of kickball. We called up as many friends as we could and got a game of seven on seven. To my amazement, our game lasted for almost two hours. Both sides were evenly matched and the result was sadly a tie. Everyone was getting really into the game and the competitive nature was clearly visible. Once the game was over, we all split because we were all exhausted. The next day, a few of my other friends had called me up and wanted to play some sand volleyball in Andy Brown Park. When we got there, we found a bunch of people we knew and decided to join them in a friendly match. Unfortunately for the other team, my friend who is almost seven feet tall pretty much tore them apart. We played for about 45 minutes and then decided to call it quits. On the last consecutive day, a friend of mine had wanted to go to the driving range for some time and finally I had the time. We spent about an hour there driving, having chipping challenges, and even putting challenges. Needless to say it was really fun. After three days of doing these activities, I was extremely tired. All were very fun and helped me get into better shape. At least one of these activities should be a part of someone’s daily routine because they all are a great way to exercise without even thinking about it.

  19. This is probably one of the easiest assignments i have ever been assigned because it is basically my job to stay active. I usually work out between 3-5 hours on weekdays and am involved with the track program on most weekends. However, for this go and play assignment i decided to take up a new hobby. My girlfriend is an avid tennis player, so i made it my goal to get better at the sport while i was on my spring break vacation in Hawaii. The resort we stayed at had ample tennis courts and supplies. My brother and i decided to play for at least an hour every other day we didnt workout on the beach. So next time i play tennis with my girlfriend i am excited to show her that i am ready to start competing a little bit...

For the go play assignment I decided to change it up from my normal basketball-obsessed schedule and went another direction, the gridiron. Because football is a difficult sport to play by yourself I recruited some friends to play with me. It was a lot of fun to change up my daily routine and play something different. After the first day my arm was extremely sore because I’m not used to throwing the ball so much. The soreness made it difficult to throw for day two and three but I embraced the challenge. I found that even though I am pretty active and can catch a basketball well, catching a football is a whole different ball game. The first day I was embarrassed at how many passes I dropped but slowly improved over the three days. Overall, I enjoyed the experience because it was something new and a change of pace. I now plan to mix it up more often!

  21. For three days I added to my physical activity schedule to put 30 more minutes of playing into my daily routine. For the three days I was doing this assignment, I added 30 minutes of throwing the football with Andrew “butter fingers” Rexroat. I haven’t been able to throw a football much lately because I have been playing lacrosse, so being able to toss it around a little bit was a change of pace in my schedule. Just throwing a football is not the most exerting activity, but it is a great way to move around, have fun, and get off the couch and computer. Each day that Andrew and I threw, I felt that being active was a healthy for me, and a fun to burn off calories. It was an experience that I enjoyed and motivation for me to put more physical activities into my life.

  22. For my Go Play assignment I decided to do a different physical activity everyday so I wouldn't get bored with just one activity. On the first day I went on a walk with my mom around the neighborhood for about an hour. It was nice because we were just busy talking and that distracted me from exercising. At the end of the walk I felt a little tired, but it was nice to get some fresh air and I felt more relaxed. The next day I went to the park and I played some sand volleyball with some friends. At first I thought volleyball wouldn't really be considered rigorous exercise, but it was more rigorous than I thought. On the last day I just jogged for about 30 minutes. I definitely felt a difference after staying active. I felt more energetic, alert, and alive. I also didn't get tired as often as I used to. This made me realize that exercise can really do a lot of good things for you.

  23. For three days I went outside and roller bladed. It was so much fun. I haven't roller bladed since I was a little kid. After roller bladding each day I felt a bit tired and out of breathe. I know that in shape because of colorguard but I wasn't use to using that much energy just to skate down the streets in coppell. I skated with my sister for 30 minutes we had so much fun. Being active more made a difference in the way i felt each morning that i got up. i wasn't as tired and i felt more awake in the morning and i felt like i had this burst of energy that i didn't know i could have. although i am active with colorguard i felt like roller bladding was better for me and that it encouraged me to drink more water and to play outside more. i think roller bladding could be put into my everyday schedule because i like the energy that i obtain for it. not everyone is the same but i know that when it comes to me 30 minutes outside is nothing and it is something that everyone should strive harder to do you'll love the way you feel and you will be so much more healthier.

For the past three days I spent at least 30 technology free minutes outside being active. At first, the thought of tossing my phone aside, to go outside in the heat and sweat did not excite me very much at all. Shortly after beginning this challenge, however, I found myself really enjoying my time outdoors and I even began to look forward to this time. On the first day of the challenge, I recruited some friends to come play a game of touch football. Surprisingly, everyone got really into the game and things got pretty heated and the game lasted of an hour. It was definitely my favorite activity of this challenge. The next day, I spent 45 minutes playing basketball with my brother in the driveway. It was really fun but extremely tiring. On the third and final day, I was so sore from the previous two days that I settled for taking a walk around the park. It was actually much more enjoyable than I would have ever imagined it to be. This challenge taught me that exercise is highly important for our bodies and we need to make it part of our daily routine. It’s not always easy to set time aside to be active outside, but it is necessary because, ultimately, taking care of our bodies is much more important than almost any other thing you can do. This challenge opened my eyes to the importance of this and hopefully, I will be able to incorporate exercise in my daily routine.

  25. My parents were out of town this past weekend, so naturally, I had to pick up most of their daily chores. One of these chores is walking my dog. This is something that I had always been reluctant to do in the past. I only did it when my parents asked me to and it always involved some complaining on my part. However, I learned over the course of the past few days that it really is not so bad. I work out regularly, but this is a little different. This is extra exercise for me, which really is not a bad thing. I walked my dog at least once a day from Thursday to today for 30 minutes. This morning, I even woke up early for a walk and it felt good to do something a little more productive first thing in the morning. I accomplished something before I even got to school. Going on these daily walks was nice. It gave me some time to enjoy the nice weather we were having for most of the weekend, it was a nice way to clear my mind and have some quiet time to think and I got to spend a little extra time with my dog. Plus, it was actually kind of relaxing and served as a way to get out and exercise a little on the days I did not run. Being a runner, it was nice to change things up and get active and enjoy the outdoors in a different way. I think I may start volunteering for this chore more often.

  26. During Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of last week, I would go outside and throw a baseball into a brick wall and play catch with myself for about 45 minutes. Since it's getting closer to summer, I've been starting to spend more time outside because it feels much nicer than it used to be in the winter. Whenever it feels nicer outside, I would rather be outside being active than being inside watching a movie or something.

  27. Over spring break i was watching college lacrosse with my brother. I had not played lacrosse in over 4 years and i got the urge to play again. So for about an hour every day my brother and i went to Andy Brown and had a lacrosse catch and practice shooting the lacrosse ball. It felt really good to just get out of the house and of my normal routine. Throwing the lacrosse ball is not all that active, but doing it every day for about an hour can become an exercise. It also felt good, just to get out of the house and away from watching television and playing on xbox. It was really fun and i have done it everyday since i have started and today will be my 9th day in a row. I was really fun and i intend to do it for a long time.

  28. For my go play assignment I decided to do something that I wouldn't normally do after school which was go play soccer. Harrison, Elliot, and I went up andy brown west the last three school nights prior to spring break. I was surprised how much fun a game of soccer or world cup ( which is basically like a game of soccer but just using one goal instead of two) could be. The best part about going out to play soccer is that it gave us something to do that was active and it took the place of the time we would normally be spending watching tv or just laying around being unproductive. As a result of playing soccer for those three nights, we have been going up to andy brown often during the week which has been a lot of fun. Playing soccer or just kicking around the soccer ball should become a daily habit for everyone because soccer is a sport that takes a lot of physical activity which burns a lot of calories and the best part about it is that you get so into the game that you don't even realize how much your running because your having such a fun time enjoying the game.

  29. At the beginning of my senior year I promised myself I would go to the gym and do thirty minutes on the treadmill and thirty minutes with the weights. I broke my own promise sometime during the first semester, and began to feel out of shape. I began to feel "winded" when I got to the top of stairs. I felt like I had less energy, and I was getting tired earlier in the day. I also noticed I was losing muscle definition, and gaining fat over time! I decided I'd take advantage of this 3 day challenge, and it has motivated me to get back in the gym for an hour every day during my off period (7th period). Going to the gym has regulated my sleeping schedule, and driven me to eat better to provide my body with the right supplements. I also feel more energized/focused during the day. I am really glad I am getting exercise during 7th period rather than eating junk, laying on the couch, and watching television. This 3 day challenge has got me back on track.

  30. My entire year this year has been extremely jam packed with all sorts of things, and it seems as if I have absolutely no time to ever work out besides cheer practice. Also this year I have been extremely sleep deprived. It has gotten to the point where I cannot even fall asleep before midnight. Frequently, I find myself tossing and turning throughout the night as well mainly because of all of the stress. For the Go Play! assignment, I decided to go outside and run for a solid 30 minutes a day for 30 minutes straight. After doing this for 3 days straight I realized that it is something that I need to start putting into my daily routine. As i was doing this I noticed a lot of things about the way that I felt. First off, I noticed that it helped to alleviate some of my stress as I was running. It helped to clear my mind so that when I got home, I could actually focus on one thing at a time. Also, I noticed that I was getting a lot better sleep. Because I was being active for at least 30 minutes a day, my muscles were more tired when I laid down to go to sleep which allowed me to not toss and turn all night. Since I have not had a lot of time to do activity such as this lately, it was nice to be able to finally get back into the swing of things.

  31. For this Go Play! assignment!, I decided to play ultimate frisbee for at least thirty minutes for three days straight over spring break with groups of my friends. Although I was definitely sore and a little scraped up and bruised after these games, I had a great time! I found myself in a better mood, having more energy, and was able to focus better on and receive enjoyment out of more my other task of the days. I definitely enjoyed this assignment and plan on continuing to add activity to my day to day life.

  32. For my Go Play assignment i did multiple things. my first day i went to the YMCA and played a pickup game of basketball with a bunch of my friends home for spring break. We play for an hour or two and i was pretty tired sense i haven't done much sense football season ended. The next day we played sand volleyball at Andy Brown Park. It wasn't as tiring but it was still fun. For our last day, my and a few close friends went to my grandparents lake house and went fishing all day. It was pretty tiring sense we had to wake up so early but i had fun and got a little sun burn. After my 3 days of play time i was so tired and i slept through most of what was left of spring break but at least i had fun.

  33. Recently, I have noticed that my dog has been looking slightly overweight so I decided to embark on this Healthy Me challenge by walking her(I considered running but figured jet was much to small to keep up). For three straight days, we took 30 minute walks around the neighborhood. Surprisingly, I enjoyed these walks and had an increased sense of well being afterwards. I noticed many new things in our area that I was previously unaware to. I doubt that those short three days of walking really made me more healthy but they did certainly open my eyes to the fact that I need to get out of the house more often.

As an added bonus, Jet lost a pound.

  34. A lot of the time I get tired of going to the gym, so I end up sitting around the house watching TV or reading. Instead of being lazy, I decided to walk my dogs. It was really easy and actually very refreshing. It was nice to get up and move around rather than sitting and taking a nap. Walking the dogs was definitely more fun and more beneficial for me. It was also nice to get a break from going to the gym or running outside. Not only was it good for me, but also my dogs. They hadn't been walked in a long time, so it was something different for all of us. I should definitely try to keep this up because it makes me feel good and gets me to go outside. A lot of the time I end up in my house or at the gym. I'm not usually outside a whole lot. So this will be something energetic and refreshing that I can do for a change. It can also help me get some sun!

Usually I am pretty athletic and fit, but of late I've kind of been lacking in that department. I've caught myself watching television and being lethargic more often than I have actually been exercising, and spring break didn't help that out at all. So, I decided to undertake the Go Play! Challenge to get back in the groove of things. The first day, I went and lifted weights for a couple hours; something that I hadn't done for a couple of weeks. The following day, I played dodgeball with my friends and nearly threw out my arm. The final day, I played flag football again with my friends and we all got a good exercise out of that. Being back in the exercise mode, I have found myself to be in a lot better shape and all around more healthier. I eat better food, and require less sleep. Because of all of these benefits, I plan on keeping these activities up for a longer amount of time than previously and taking them with me to college. Roll Tide!

  36. Over spring break I had nothing to do and was pretty bored most of the time. I watched a lot of the march madness tournament and it inspired me to go outside and play basketball. The first day I just played by myself for 30 minutes. I worked up a good sweat and felt pretty good about myself. The next day I went up to the YMCA to play. I played a few pick up games and really broke a sweat. I went back the next day and played again with a few of my buddies. During this time I felt good about exercising and had fun doing it. I will continue to play basketball with my friends because not only is it a good exercise but it is also extremely fun at the same time.

  37. For my three days of working out I started on last Friday and finished on Sunday, March 27. On Friday after school I went for a thirty minute run luckily before the temperature dropped significantly in the evening. The following day (as I do most Saturdays) I attended the home build site of a Habitat for Humanity home. There I was outside for about 7 hours walking to and from areas of the house constantly on my feet completing tasks such as carrying wood or hammering nails into the wall siding around the house. Lastly, on Sunday despite the drizzle, I walked my puppy dog around our block for about 30 minutes. For me, though exercising is not something I necessarily don’t like to do, finding time to go outside or even the gym is the difficult part- also motivation. For over 10 years I was always extremely active when playing a club sport and thus never had to worry about getting in my daily fitness or even weekly activity, so then once I was free of the mandatory practically programmed regiment of work outs, I found myself stuck in ruts of being inactive. Now having worked out for 3 days in a row in some way, I feel more motivated to continue being active even if I don’t see myself as blatantly “out of shape” which I think one of the main reason people fall back on when reasoning why they do not work out regularly. Being active everyday is important in order to stray away from destructive habits that could lead to eventually being overweight. The more I would put off working out, the harder it would be to start up again. Also when I worked out, I would feel better about myself knowing I didn’t spend an extra hour on the computer or watching TV and instead did something healthy for my well being.

  38. While most people take it easy senior year, this has been my busiest school year in high school due to all of the things I have gotten involved in at CHS. Due to this, I have typically gone home and taken a nap following the school day and have become less active physically than I had been in years past. Last week, I decided to make it a point to run two miles on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday right after school instead for the Go Play! Challenge, and the results took me by surprise. Doing this had a positive impact on me, as it made my body feel rejuvinated every day and I found myself getting to sleep earlier, and my sleeps were more solid. I also improved my running time each day by about 10 seconds, which was interesting to see. Doing this challenge made me realize the importance of exercise and having an everyday workout routine.

  39. During this time of the year, I play lacrosse for the highschool. We have practice everyday for 2 hours, and after each practice I feel really good about the work I just put in. The exercise puts me in a better mood, and helps me sleep more which in return makes me in a better mood the next day. Also, excercise makes me want to eat better food, and not pizza and hamburgers. In all, excericise is a great addition to my day, and only good things come from it.

  40. Over my spring break, I rode my bike around the neighborhood with my friend. At first I thought I might be hard, but it actually turned out to be pretty fun. We biked about 45 mins a day for almost a week. The first two days, my legs we really sore but later on I had fun. One thing I definitely noticed is that I felt more active and alert through out the day. Going outside even for a simple walk makes a difference. I also think it's easier to get out of the house or workout when you have company. When I rode my bike with my friend, I didnt feel as if I had to complete a task, I actually enjoyed the outdoors without even realizing. At the end of my break I felt like I was productive and not just lazy.

  41. The two sports I seem to always play with my friends are football and ultimate frisbee, and we rarely stray away from those two, so for my Go Play challenge I thought I would change things up a bit and try out some different sports. Last week on Tuesday I played intramural dodgeball with my friends and that was a big change, because I'm not use to throwing so hard over and over again so my arm was dead the next day, but then I decided to go back to the elementary and middle school days and I went and shot some hoops for 30 minutes to an hour the next two days. It was a very gratifying experience because it was fun remembering the good times I had playing basketball in elementary school, and I forgot how much it can be a work out if you run around and get into it. Getting out and playing is vital these days with childhood obesity rates so high in America, and after playing dodgeball and basketball, I realized that it is very easy to get out and get good exercise every day.

  42. A had some free time on my hands over spring break, so I decided to play some sports with my brother and his friends. The first day we played a basketball game for an hour, which made me pretty exhausted. The next day we played soccer which was fun because we were able to get twenty people to play with my brother and I. The final day my brother and I tossed around the football. Exercise should be a daily habit because exercise leads to better health, which is important. It will also give you more energy throught the day. Everyone should consider exercising for at least 30 min every day.

  43. I am enrolled in dual credit classes so on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday i don't have any morning classes. Me and my friends who have the same schedule have taken this spare time to workout during the week. we usually alternate between upper body and lower body workouts, and then we will just do some running on some days. having been doing this for a while i can definitely feel a difference. I have more energy during the day and i don't feel all tired during my classes. the key though is getting plenty of sleep. whenever i would combine tough workouts with less sleep, it would have the opposite effect. i would have no time to recover, so during the day i would be exhausted. overall i think this has had a positive affect on my health, so i plan on continuing with this routine

  44. For the 3 days, I went outside and played various sports with friends. On Thursday I went outside and played soccer with some friends taking extra care not to run or kick with my broken foot, on Friday I played Home-Run Derby with my brothers, and on Saturday I played the game "Ninja" with some friends (we made it extra intense by seeing who could do the most complex and intense moves such as dive rolls and standing on one leg for an entire round). I noticed just how out of shape I've gotten since my prolonged hiatus from sports and activities due to my broken foot. It's made me eager to be healed so that I can get back into my normal activities and get back into shape. It's got me thinking of different things that I can do in the meantime without having to put extra stress on my foot.

  45. For this Go Play! assignment, in addition to working out everyday like usual, I went and played soccer with some friends for at least 30 minutes for week. I usually work out everyday for about 1 to 2 hours, so adding 30 minutes a soccer wasn't that much. I enjoyed doing something different, because just running gets boring at times. However, I didn't feel much different after 3 days of soccer. For the most part, by the end of the day I felt better and had more energy. I definitely plan on continuing this most because its active and tons of fun at the same time.

  46. For the play 30 challenge I decided to do something that I loved when I was younger. Every afternoon for the past three days I have gone out and jumped on my trampoline. I spent my time jumping and flipping and I have been a lot of fun. Since I am a cheerleader tumbling is already a lot of fun for me and so the time flew by and I often wanted to stay outside and play for longer. I think that going outside to play is very important for a person’s day to day life, you get exercise, you get fresh air and it is fun and easy. I think that I will continue to play outside during my free time because it makes me happy and I feel better after I do it. It is much more full filling than watching TV. Everyone needs to find something fun and easy that they can do every day and with that the world will be a better place.

  47. During the typical week, the majority of my exercise consists of lifting weights two to three times a week as well as playing the occasional pickup game of basketball/football. So as a changeup of my weekly exercise routine, I decided to run for thirty minutes straight for three straight days to try to work on my cardiovascular conditioning. After completing this Go Play challenge, I realized that I need to drastically work on my cardiovascular conditioning. Trying to run at a fast pace for thirty minutes was much more difficult than I had anticipated it to be. Although I found this challenge difficult, I enjoyed the sensation of running off of all the fast food and other processed foods I love to eat. If I would like to get in good shape for the summer, I need to run on a consistent basis in order to compensate for all the junk food I eat (although doing a combination of both would be the ideal situation). Although I lift weights and run in pickup basketball games and playing football, I need to commit to running on a more consistent basis in order to be in a better physical condition. Running, swimming, or any other type of cardiovascular training should be incorporated in everybody’s daily exercise routine in order to remain physically fit as well as maintain a healthy heart- which is a necessity in order to live a long and healthy life.

  48. Last week for the go play! challenge, I decided to play basketball with some friends on Monday. We ended up playing for a couple of hours and the routine stuck with me through the whole week. Playing basketball after a long day at school helped me feel refreshed and relieved stress that I had. Getting out and exercising gave me a new mindset and alleviated other feelings. I felt healthy and my energy was at a higher level. Learning in classes and my performance academically also seemed to have changed for the better throughout the week. I concluded that daily exercise is necessary to stay in shape and can help people perform better in their individual lifestyles.

  49. Usually my weekly workouts consist of going to Express Fitness and lifting weights or running on the elliptical almost everyday. But recently whenever I would hangout with my friends we would play basketball outside for at least an hour. This showed me that we definitely need this program because young children cannot lift weights because it is actually bad for their health at that age. Playing basketball was a really good cardiovascular workout because you were moving the entire town and by the end you were drenched in sweat. If kids would do this everyday, the child obesity problem would decrease dramatically. But it doesn't even have to be basketball, it can be football, baseball, four square, really anything. They just got to go outside and play.

  50. Durring the week, i lift 4 times a week and run 5 days a week. With the weather starting to warm up, my friends and I decided to start playing some more basketball. we played quite a bit last year, but once summer ended, we didnt pick it up much until recently. each day we would play for at least an hour, and when we were all finished, we were pretty tired at first, but later on, it felt good knowing that we had spent time getting good cardiovascular exercise in. I would reccomend playing basketball for those looking for good leg training and cardiovascular exercises due to the amount of running, and start/stop transitions.

  51. Usually, I run and do some sort of cardiovascular workout during the week, but during the weekend, I did something out of the ordinary and played basketball with a couple of friends. It had been a while since I had played outside, and I quickly realized how easy it was to get a good workout by just playing outside for a short amount of time. I think that it would be a very easy, not to mention fun way, to get in shape and stay that way. I think having a physical recreation period during high school would be a very good way to combat the obesity problem in the U.S, which currently costs the U.S around $147 billion dollars, and a very cheap way as well.

  52. For the Go Play assignment I did 3 different things over the three days, on the first day my friend and I went on a walk outside through the nature trails at Wagon Wheel Parks. We went at around 6:45 and it was the perfect temperature outside. It was refreshing to be outside away from everything for a little while. The second day I rode my bike around my neighborhood with the same friend for a while, and the third day we played tennis. It was fun to be outside and do activities opposed to being in the gym. Although going to the gym and playing outside have mainly the same effect (cardio wise), I would actually look forward to doing the activities outside, but I can't say the same for when I go to the gym to do cardio.

  53. Because I play soccer so often I rarely have time to go out and exercise on my own. This really worries me because I am not playing soccer and I have never got in the habit of forcing myself to exercise, it's always a forced practice with my team. Last week I decided to go out and do something exercise related 4 days in a row. I found that is was much easier to get out and do things when I actually enjoyed what I was doing. I ran on my own a couple times and I really dreaded it before I went out but when I went out and played sports with my friends like ultimate frisbee I was actually looking forward to it and enjoyed the exercise without really thinking about all of the running I was doing. Overall this taught me that when I go to college I should join sports teams or get together with my friends and do something fun. While I know that I will still have to run on my own, by participating in sports then I will have more motivation and really enjoy the exercise!

  54. For this assignment, I got a couple friends together and we played frisbee in the lot behind one of their apartments. The first day it was really hot, so we only stayed for thirty minutes, but it was actually pretty fun. The second day we waited until the evening so that it wouldn't be as hot, and it was a lot more enjoyable this way. We ended up staying for almost an hour. We did this again on day three. Aside from the temperature, it was really fun being outside and just playing around. Not a lot of people really do that anymore, and after doing this assignment, I think that they should. It really lifted my spirits and I felt more energetic afterwards. I think it's good for people to hang out outside sometimes, even if it's not very often, because it makes you feel more awake and energized.

  55. I already run for 30 min about 3-4 times a week so for this assignment to make a difference for me, I decided to go on a 30 min fast-paced walk with my Dad before I ran for 3 days. My thoughts about our walk were that it was nice to spend some alone time with my dad because we both have such busy schedules and also it was a good warm up for running. I think I should make it a daily habit to increase my workout time to 60 min from my usual 30.

  56. Normally my excercise routine is spending hours at the rec playing basketball, but these past four days i changed my plan. I decided to get some fresh air and play soccer instead. Sometimes we wouldn't get as many people, while other times we played a full eleven on eleven. i played mainly in valley ranch with some friends from ranchview and north hills. Soccer was a lot of fun and challenging at the same time. It felt weird having to dribble with my feet than my hands. However, it felt great just getting a breath of fresh air and enjoying the weather. The great part was that, i was looking at this experience as exercise, but rather a way i could spend time with my friends. I ran around alot and it was very tiring, so i was exercising like my body needs as well as having fun like i need. This activity showed me how exercise can be fun with the right people and how i should change up my normal routine of basketball.

Now I regularly go to the gym to work out and do some cardio but it’s usually pretty quick just so I can get a little sweat going to warm up. For the challenge I decided to go the park and go for a jog. I didn’t take anyone to go with me because I work out alone so I just headed there after I was finished with the weights. Over the three days that I did it my body went through some changes. I was used to working out but when I started running I quickly realized that I wasn’t in the same shape I was in for lifting weights. Not only did I feel my legs burning but my core also experienced a good workout. When I got home the food I craved wasn’t protein and carbohydrates instead I wanted a light dinner such as fish and just water or tea. I had always heard how great running is for you but never experienced it so I’m glad I took the challenge and hope to keep it up throughout the summer.

  60. These last three days I decided I would go out of my normal workout routine and do different physical activity. Usually I just go to the weight room and lift weights and don't really get any true physical activity in so i felt that this would be a good three day test for me. The first day I started off on a pretty chill and fun activity by going golfing for about an hour. This started off my three day test on a low intense activity so I was able to do it without effort. It was without a doubt not in my daily routine also so that was an important factor. The second day of my test I decided I would go swimming. I figured this would be a really good activity for my body but since I would enjoy it it wouldn't post too much of a difficulty on my body where I would be tired for day three. This proved to be the perfect activity and I had another fun day. I swam for about an hour and a half and ocverall I definitely felt tired afterwards and sleepy but at the same time felt good for the next day. On day three, the final day of my test, I decided I would finish with a difficult activity. I went pretty far out of my confort zone as I ran hills at the high school. Even though I'm in pretty good physical condition this was an extremely physically demanding task. I ran twenty hills and by the end of it I was increadibly tired. I felt really sore and overall the activity made me feel good because it had been so long since I ran hills so it felt good in a way. This ended my three day test. Overall I was extremely pleased with my tests because I was able to do fun activities while in the end getting in better shape because of it. It made me realize the importance of switching up the daily routine and doing activities outside of my comfort zone.

  61. There is nothing more intimidating than having to read a 600 page Russian novel in the last few weeks of senior year. Avoiding it wasn't an option, Sparknotes would only help me to an extent, so reading the book was inevitable. What's more effective than being able to workout and get the book read all at once? Nothing. Every single day for the past week I walked three miles outside with a book in my hand. Not only did I manage to finish the book, but i was able to get outside and burn some calories. It beats sitting at home or in class and trying to read the book by a land slide. Working out is a part of my normal routine, but under my usual circumstances I am inside a gym, not outside. So this was a great opportunity for me to change it up a little bit. Although walking outside isn't nearly as intense as my normal workouts, it's better than sitting at home and not working out at all. Overall, it's something I would do again to get a book read. Perhaps during the summer I might even get up early and run outside to see if it changes my energy levels throughout the day at all.

  62. Normally, whenever I think about doing something "active", I go for a run, which I love. However, for this assignment I did something I rarely ever do - swim.

Now, when I say swim, I don't mean pulling a Michael Phelps and racing up and down my swimming pool. I generally don't enjoy getting wet or getting in the pool, so my exercise was more of light treading. However, it did, surprisingly, make a difference.

First of all, I invited friends over to get in the pool, which made the experience more fun - most of the exercising was initiated by impromptu diving contests or races. Also, the nicest thing about swimming was not feeling your sweat or feeling uncomfortable while in the water - it is one of the more relaxing activities I have ever done.

Did it make a difference? Definitely. I honestly hated the idea of swimming before doing this, but now I've warmed to the idea of it. It was by no means a way to lose tremendous amounts of weight or anything, but it did improve my mood quite a bit and was much more uplifting than sitting at my computer all evening. Come summertime, I have a feeling I'll be using my pool more than I have in the past.

While outside, we usually jogged and then tossed around the football. The running involved in playing football counted towards our morning run. For three days straight, my friends and I popped in the P90X disk and did their "ab ripper X" and very much felt the burn. What I noticed from doing these workouts in the morning before I went to school was that I was in a much better mood in the morning, having a feeling of accomplishment. I also noticed that I was a lot more hungry after my breakfast, so I snacked on some bananas, (a possible sign of fast metabolism). For three consecutive days in a row I swam laps in the pool located within my apartment complex with both some friends and family, so that I could engage in some substantial physical activity. Although I tired quickly initially, by the third day I was used to the physical exertion and thoroughly enjoyed the time spent outside under the sun. Moreover, I was glad to be able to partake in an activity with my loved ones that was not only enjoyable, but also beneficial for our fitness. Because my family and friends typically choose to get together for unhealthy meals, the time spent within the pool was a positive change in the right direction toward physical health. By getting active, we all felt much more rejuvenated and lively following the multiple occasions. Therefore, swimming laps should become a daily habit now that it’s becoming hotter outside, since the pool is readily accessible, the activity brings my loved ones closer together, and it instigates such positive outcomes as augmenting one’s level of energy, diminishing stress, and instigating an overall sense of healthier living. Not only does this fun pastime instill a sense of family connectivity through activeness, but continuing it could lead to a longtime reduced risk of obesity, prevention of heart disease and stroke, and management of blood pressure.

Finally for the third day I played tennis with a friend. I never realized how fun each these activities are because I haven’t done them in a long time. I personally like running out of the three the most because running while listening to your iPod is just an out of the world experience especially after you’re done, you feel so accomplished after you realize how far you have ran and how hard you worked. Basketball and tennis were great as well because I did them with friends, and we had a good time being competitive at the same time.

It was so nice to go out and be outside because it wasn't too hot and there was a great breeze. It was so much fun to be able to exercise while hanging out with my friend. We were able to talk, laugh and have fun while we were being healthy, who woulda thought? I use to be in track so I would run everyday, but now that I don't do that, I've realized how much I miss being outside running or riding bikes or anything active outside. I need to do something outside everyday, whether it be for 15 minutes or an hour because it not only makes me feel good but it's also fun!

  76. For this assignment, I decided to take a bike ride for 3 consecutive days. By doing this, I felt more accomplished because I was productive compared to sitting at home watching TV. Even though my legs were a little sore from working out the leg muscles I don't usually use, I felt refreshed and better about myself because I knew it was better than sitting around doing nothing. I really enjoyed knowing that I was exercising, and at the same time, I was able to enjoy the beautiful weather. Even if a person doesn't bike everyday, there should be some kind of physical activity in a person's life every single day. Whether it's biking, swimming, running or even just walking around the block, it's better to have some kind of exercise than none at all.

  77. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday I play ultimate frisbee so I am always out doing physical activity. I used to run a lot, but I hadn't done that in a while. So I decided to go out every night this past week and go for a run. I ran for about 35 min every day. My run consisted of running around all three Andy Brown parks. I didn't really notice any difference in my physical stamina, but I did realize a change in my appetite. I became more hungry throughout the day and I starting eating a lot more.

Recently my family put our house up for sale, which means every once and a while we have to get out of the house so families and their realtors can tour it uninterrupted. Originally, I was a little agitated, wondering what I was going to do for and hour or more when we had no errands to run, but we came up with a great idea. Right before a family arrives, we drive over to the park and then take a walk through the nearby neighborhoods and parks until our house is clear. Walking certainly isn't the most active type of exercise, but it's amazing how much it changed how I feel. Just being outside in the late afternoon with my parents (and sometimes my dog) was refreshing. It's been so easy, especially since I've gotten into high school, to forget how much I enjoy just being outside. We as students get so caught up in our busy lives with homework and extracurricular activities that we find ourselves trapped inside for almost 100% of the entire day. Taking these walks has certainly reminded me to make sure to take time to enjoy the warm weather outside and take that opportunity to increase my daily activity. I feel better and healthier, and it calms me down to step away from the stresses of school and life in general, even if it's just for an hour. I definitely can say that I look forward to the times when we're forced to get of our house; it proves to be the most relaxing and active part of my day!

  79. My family and I decided for a week, we would take bikes out to White Rock Lake and ride the 9 mile trail around the lake every day. My father is an avid biker, so the trails weren't difficult for him, but for myself and my mom, who are runners, and my brother and sister who rarely exercise, it was much more difficult. My family normally keeps a healthy diet, except for my brother. He found the trails much more difficult than the rest. After a few days, we started realizing that we felt better, but we had a much larger appetite. We started eating a lot more throughout the day and snacking much more than normal. The bike rides made a change in our appetite and overall moods. We always felt much better after exercising than before.

  80. For three days I took it upon myself to start exercising again for the first time in several weeks. Deciding to take it slow, I took my sister's dog for a walk/run for 30 minutes around the neighborhood (apx. 2 miles) for 3 days. It started off painful (2 flights of stairs used to wind me) but after the three days I'm starting to feel healthier and stronger and I've discovered a healthy exercise I definitely want to continue.

  81. My two brothers are extremely involved in athletics. From baseball to soccer to basketball, my brothers do it all. Since I don't get to exercise like I used to when I played softball and basketball all the time, I haven't been upholding a healthy lifestyle. For one week, my brothers would run with me around our neighborhood and help me lift weights. They both taught me different fundamentals in running and in weights, along with several healthy food choices that they enjoy. After one week, I had run about 15 miles in total and lifted over several thousand pounds. I didn't see a difference in weight loss, but I felt better just knowing that I was staying active. As a result from this, the three of us have decided that we shouldn't do this for only one week, but continue into the summer. Not only do I feel great ( and sore), but I feel like I could be closer with my brothers in a different way! :)

For the Go Play! challenge, I decided to rollerblade for 30 min day, 3 days in a row. I already figure skate everyday so I thought they would be pretty similar to each other and not that difficult. I decided to rollerblade in the morning, and see if it made any difference to my day. Even after the first two days, I was already sore. Although figure skating and rollerblading are basically the same idea, I found out rollerblading works other muscles like your abs, quads and different back muscles. I also found that exercising in the morning works for me a lot better because it wakes me up and the brain naturally releases endorphin which has proven to relieve stress and make you happy. Im glad I tried this and I plan on making this a weekly routine.

  83. For my go play assignment I decided to start preparing for the biggest sport in coppell intramurals which is ultimate frisbee. For the past two weeks my team and I have come up to the high school practice fields behind the field house and brushed up on our frisbee skills. The windy weather outside has made throwing a frisbee quite difficult but in terms of exercise, playing frisbee is quite a workout due to the amount of running that is involved. Since we started playing we have been playing a few times a week which is a lot of fun and has given us something productive to do when we are bored. This activity should become a daily habit for everyone especially at this point in the year because of the upcoming intramurals but also because its a great cardio workout that's fun.

For my exercise i rode my bike to the park. This was actually quit fun because it was a nice day out. Usually, I don't like going outside because I'm not the outdoorsy kind of person. However this day,by chance, it was nice, breezy, and bright. Soothing is a nice way to describe it. I guess because of this day I might do it again because it was nice. The only problem would be my schedule. I work a lot and then I have school and homework to do, so its hard to fit anything else in. But it doesn't hurt to try. I know that it is important to exercise everyday because it helps with being healthy and the cardiovascular system, especially the heart.

During the Cricket World Cup of 2011 I introduced my friends to the sport of cricket. For a hour 3 days in a row, we played cricket. First I taught them the basics of the sport, for example, how to bat, bowl, and field. These are the three main positions you can be while you play. Cricket is one of my favorite sports next to football and they are both a lot of fun to play. Cricket is a very good sport to play as a daily activity, because although it does require a lot of running, there is also a lot of time to rest and relax. All of my friends were open to learning how to play a new sport. And after those 3 days they still call me asking if I want to play cricket with them. After playing cricket with friends it also makes it a lot more enjoyable to watch the world cup.

-On Friday, April 8th 2011, I decided to play soccer with my friends Jackie and Caesar outside for 45 minutes. We stretched for 5 minutes and played on separate individual teams. When we started the game, I had enough energy to play and score a goal for about 10 minutes and I got the chance to steal the ball 3 times. By 30 minutes, my energy decreased dramatically and it was harder to breath and play at the same time and heavier breaths and cramps increased. Although soccer isn't my favorite sport, I enjoyed playing because I got to use my legs and other muscles and I felt refreshed and active during the game. After that experience, I think sports should become a daily habit because your energy is high, your senses are active and it's a great exercise.

-On Saturday, April 9th,2011, I took a 30 minute run and walk with my mother and sister. We took off running around our apartment complex for about 15 minutes and had a 2 minute break. Then we walked towards the Mustang Park Recreation Center for another 15 minutes and when we reached the park, we ate a snack, drank some water, and jogged back home. I honestly hate running, mostly because I get cramps easily. This exercise showed me that the more I remain active and have a balance diet in order to run easier, the healthier and stress-relieving it is for me to do.

-Finally on Sunday, April 10th, 2011, I gathered some friends to play basketball, soccer, volleyball, and a quick run for 2 hours. We started off running for about 15 minutes as our warm up, took a mini break and ate some snacks. Then we played volleyball for another 25 minutes, which began my process of exhaustion. Then we headed to the field and played soccer for an additional 30 minutes and finally, basketball for 1 hour. Some positive results were active exercising, good competition, and active muscles. Some negative results were lack of exercise, and time. Due to the fact that it got darker, we didn't have enough time to play longer.

-I loved every game we played because I realized how competitive I am, which increased my motives to win and play more. I realized the level of laziness within me and how it overtook my activeness in sports. I used to play basketball, volleyball, soccer, and tennis and the difference from then to now as changed immensely. Sports, exercise, active games should definitely become a daily habit for me and everyone because you'll have fun instead of sitting around and it's a healthier and good choice.

I am really active in general. I try and work out at least 5 times a week so I had to come up with something to do for 3 days that was different. I decided to get my friends together and play flag football. I thought that it was a really good form of exercise and I had a ton of fun doing it. Although I don't think that this should be something I make sure to everyday, I think that continuing to exercise every day is very important. I feel that it makes me feel better when I wake up because I have exercised my body. It also helps when I eat healthier.

For the GoPlay assignment, i got about 6 of my friends together and we went to moore road park to go out and play different sports and just hang out outside. When i told them we had to be out for at least an hour, they didn't think we would be able to make it. Turns out it was easier than we thought. The first day we went out and play soccer, then relaxed by throwing a frisbee around. Before we knew it 3 hours had passed, and we realized how much fun we had just hanging out outside. I told them we had to do this two more days, and we were all excited to do it. The second day, we were able to get even more people and we went out and played baseball and kickball. 2 hours had gone by and we then just walked around the park and talked. On the third day most of us were tired, so we decided to go swimming for a few hours to keep cool. I don't think i ever really realized how easy it is to just go out and play, and how much fun you can have when you're with other people. Because of this, my friends and i have decided to make this a weekly thing, where at least 2 times a week we go out and play sports or swim or anything to keep us active. It also helps cause it will keep us in shape and will keep our brains from turning into mush due to staying indoors. I'm glad i chose to do this and know that i will be going out a lot more than i used to from now on.

  89. For my Go Play activity I decided to take my dog, Franze, on a walk to the park for three days straight. We walked about a half a mile to a local park, and while she ran around and played there I swang and played with her for a while before we walked the half mile home. I'm not sure how much more energy I had, but it was really refreshing to get outside and know that I had that time to myself. I love the fresh air outdoors and I love my dog, so the combination was perfect! My dog absolutely loved it and it wore her out, so that's definitely a plus! Overall, I think it was a really positive experience.

Recently for the past week after work I started jogging around my neighborhood. Feeling already done for the day from a long day of school and work I had to force myself to get out of my house on the first day starting this Go Play assignment. But when running for the first time in quite a while I felt my stress level going down and my motivation going up. Feeling relaxed when come back from jogging I soon began to start jogging farther and longer than I would have expected, 30 minutes would turn into 45minutes and maybe an hour. Not keeping track of the time I just felt my mood changing. After this it made me more conscious and less lazy on making excuses on how busy I may get because even being active 30 minutes can change how you feel for the rest of the day.

For the Go Play! blog I spent three days doing outdoor activities I don't usually do. The first day I took my dog for a walk down the canal in Valley Ranch. Usually my mom is the one to take her for a walk but I figured this assignment would give me the opportunity to spend some quality time with my dog! It was nice getting to walk along the canal and being around nature which is something I definitely don't get enough of. On the second day I ran around a huge field that is near my house. It worked out perfect with this assignment because my tennis coach required that we try and run a mile in preparation for the fitness gram coming up in one month. Running a mile made me feel productive and good about myself because playing tennis I just work on sprinting and not long distance running. Running outside was nice too because I wasn't confined to a weight room or tennis court, I had open space to run. For the third day I threw around a football with my dad which is something he and I haven't done in a while. It was fun and I enjoyed spending quality time with him which I don't do enough because I spend a lot of time at work, with friends or at tennis practice. Through this blog I spent quality time with my dad, dog and myself which I do not get enough of. I hope I can make this a daily habit because I will be leaving for college soon and spending time outside, with family and my dog is something that I won't get to experience near enough for the rest of my life.

  92. For my Go Play Activity I decided to dust off my bike that I have not used since middle school and ride for three days in a row. I rode about 5 miles each day. I went around the andy brown west track twice and then all the way to Moore park and back. It was nice to get out on my bike again considering I have not used it for about 4 years, and it didn't hurt that the weather was perfect every day I was out. It was a little small but I was able to adjust to the size. I think this Go Play foundation is great and all kids should try it because I know I enjoyed spending time outside much more than just sitting around in front of the T.V. Plus it is getting kids to become more active which is very important for our future since more and more kids are becoming very unhealthy and overweight.

  93. My siblings and I have been playing for about 30 minutes a day outside for the past 3 days and it actually has been really fun. It also showed me how out of shape I really am. My little brother was running around, sweating, and you can just tell how much energy he has just because he stays active (i guess this also has to do with how young he is). My sister was also with a lot more energy from exercising the three days. It was just a good feeling to know that you were staying active, having fun, and positively affecting your health. These are also the reasons that people should have this as part of their daily routine. In the long run, you'll be eternally grateful for it.

  94. Last week I started going on walks, occasionally jogging, everyday after school. I am not really the outdoors type of person and to be honest, I rarely exercise, so this was a big change for me. It was difficult to get motivated at first, thinking it would be easier just to stay inside and watch T.V. or go on the computer. The first day it was hard to go for a long period of time, because my body wasn't used to it. As the week went on it became easier and easier, and I started walking/running longer each day. My mom noticed it help my mood, I wasn't as stressed as I normally am. I really do not see any reason why it shouldn't be a daily habit. It only helps your overall health, doesn't jeopardize it at all! Doing this activity also made me realize how much daily exercise can help not only your physical health but also your mental. Talking from experience, I would definitely recommend daily exercise to everyone:)

Last week I took 3 days in a row where I woke up early and ran outside and worked out before going to school. Each day I ran 3 laps around my neighborhood, totaling about 3 miles each day. I would also stretch really well before and after running. I told my friend Morgan that I did this and she has been looking for a workout buddy so she and I are going to start running together and keeping each other accountable. I liked getting up and accomplishing something like that before my day even started. I had a lot more energy throughout the rest of the day and I was more happy and ready/willing to get things done. It also made me make better food choices throughout today to eat something that was good for my body than something that was not. I think going outside and playing for at least 30-60 minutes every day should be a daily habit because it’s fun, healthy, and something different to do. There are endless amount of things you can do outside to have fun or work out so it’s something that won’t get old to quickly and its cheaper than going to a gym.

  96. Recently I was in the musical production Bye Bye Birdie at FUMC Coppell. We had practices 4 days after school for 3 hours and all day on Saturdays. On our lunch and dinner breaks my friends and I would usually run to a fast food place and eat in a hurry. That got expensive really quickly, so I suggested that we pack our own lunches and dinners and walk down to the Duck Pond down the street. It was really nice because the weather was starting to warm up and we had a lot of fun together. Luckily we were also able to get in more than our usual exercise, since it was about 25-30 minutes to walk there and back. Overall it was a great bonding experience, for my friends and I all while being healthy at the same time. We were able to exercise for about 30 minutes and eat a healthier meal than what we probably would have gotten at a fast food restaurant.

For my Go Play activity, I played ultimate Frisbee three days in a row last week. I got a lot of my friends in on it and we played regular ultimate games and different versions of ultimate. While it was tiring having to run so much, playing ultimate for all those days was really fun and I started feeling slightly less sore and able to have a little more stamina by the third day. I even noticed a slight difference the next time I played ultimate with my friends a few days afterwards. Playing Frisbee consistently was difficult, but also really fun. I could feel that I was exercising and burning calories and it was a good feeling. I will try to play outside more and Frisbee is a good sport because it requires constant running. I am glad I took this challenge and would like to turn it into a regular thing.

For the past six weeks Brittany Warren and I have decided to be active outside of school. After school on Tuesday,Wednesday, and Thursday the first week and Monday,Wednesday, and Thursday the following week (alternating cycle) we have decided to do physical exercises we both enjoy on alternating days. The first week, on Tuesday, we went for a jog/walk down the canal in Valley Ranch then on Wednesday we did yoga:( and on Thursday we decided to play basketball. The following week she decided that she wanted to RUN the canal:( on Monday,do Tabeo on Wednesday, and basketball once again on Thursday. We have been continuing this cycle for the past six weeks and plan to enhance the workouts in the next few weeks. Since doing these activities I have noticed a slight change in my attitude and at first I was tired but now it gives me more energy and keeps me feeling positive.Although getting into shape is not easy if you take it a day at a time progress leads to completion. These couple of weeks have been nothing more but challenging, fun, different, and a way to release stress and stay away from "snacks." If you want to live your life as long as possible I encourage you to get involved.

It was extremely difficult the first couple times, and the next days left us extremely sore. However, it has shown great positive effects, and my core feels stronger already. I have become more cut and my abs are more visible than ever, I feel great, thanks to this little additional exercise.

Last week I went outside with my brother at the Andy Brown Park, and decided to play soccer with him. It's been awhile since I've actually went outside and played a sport for almost an hour. It really made me feel better as in I was sweating a lot but after that I got home, I felt very relieved and restful. I did not notice the time was passing by while I was playing soccer, which led me to play longer than thirty minutes; where i only was intending to play for only a few minutes. I also, ran on the weekday for about an hour or so, around the neighborhood and the Elementary School near by my house. Running and walking made me feel less stressful about worries i had, and also gave me more energy throughout the day while I was at home. Playing a sport of any kind or just running or walking for everyday just for thirty minutes or longer could benefit our health, which if we change out daily habit, then we could gain more energy and less time on the bad "things"; such as playing on the computer, sitting down for more than an hour, taking a nap during the afternoon. There could be much more benefits from exercising whether it is a sport or just taking a walk outside. I am planning on walking/running outside this week, when I have time after school or in the weekends! (:

  101. Usually when I get home from school I either take a nap, watch TV, or get on the computer. When I was in elementary school, however, every day when I would get home from school, especially on a pretty day, I would play outside. I always rode my bike, scootered, or played tag around my neighborhood with my neighborhood friends. I decided for the go play challenge, that instead of taking a nap when I got home from school, for a week I would take 30 minutes out of my day to go scooter or ride my bike, just like a used to when I was little. I got a bunch of my neighborhood friends to play outside with me, just like old times, and it was much more fun than I remembered, but also much harder than I remembered. Overall, I noticed this was a great way to relieve a little stress after school and burn some calories in the process.
